Regardless of your experience level as a photographer, most of
us rarely take a photograph that is absolutely perfect. Most of
the time, there is unintended background clutter, an
unattractive shadow or even a wild hair or two that can ruin an
otherwise great shot.
Digital Cameras, like their film-loaded predecessors, have
limitations. No matter how sophisticated and intuitive, even the
best digital camera produces photos that are only as good as the
subject matter in any given moment. Technically speaking, they
can only capture a tiny fraction of the area that the human eye
is capable of perceiving.
A single click of the camera freezes just one momentary
detail in a complex landscape.
What it cannot do is capture the range of light and shadow that
create the three dimensional picture that our eyes have taken
in. Here is how digital retouch can inject the depth and
movement that our eyes witnessed when we snapped the shot to
begin with. With digital photo retouching, you can embellish the
photo’s color to enhance its natural appearance; in other words,
to virtually compensate for the limitations of your camera.
Digital retouch can make your photograph reflect an image that
is much closer to what your eyes witnessed.
Digital retouching can be done through specially developed
software programs, or by using alternative methods of processing
your digital outputs that are known to adjust various properties
within the image in order to achieve the desired result.
With digital retouching, we can change the colors of our images;
make items larger or smaller, denser or thinner. We can add any
scenery we like, and remove anything we don’t like.
Digital retouching can provide photographic and artistic
opportunities limited only by our imaginations.
